Sachin Tendulkar was born April 24, 1973, in Mumbai, India. He got his first cricket bat at the age 11 and just at the age of 16, he became India’s youngest Test cricketer. In 2005 he became the first cricketer to score 35 centuries (100 runs in a single inning) in Test play.
In 2007 Tendulkar reached another major milestone, becoming the first player to record 15,000 runs in one-day international play. Considered by many to be the greatest cricket player of all time, Sachin Tendulkar took home the World Cup with his team in 2011 and retired from the sport two years later.
On June 4, 2012, Tendulkar was sworn in as Rajya Sabha member at the Parliament House in New Delhi. The following year, he retired from cricket activities across the board and began accumulation post-retirement accolades, notably becoming the first sportsperson and youngest person to be conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in November 2013.

Why I read it and why you should
The author does not describe the politics in much detail mostly because his main motto was to bring out the individual, human element and provides a social understanding. My main reason to read this novel was to capture the essence of the happenings during the partition which actually we don’t know.
I actually thought that I know all the happenings of the period of partition because I came to know that I know nothing.
It is a place, the author goes on to tell us at the beginning of his classic and amazing novel, where Sikhs and Muslims have lived together in peace and harmony for hundreds of years. Then one day, at the end of the summer, the “ghost train” arrives, a silent, incredible funeral train loaded with the bodies of thousands of refugees, bringing the village its first taste of the horrors of the civil war. Train to Pakistan is the story of this isolated village that is plunged into the abyss of religious hate. It is also the story of a Sikh boy and a Muslim girl whose love endured and transcends the ravages of war.
I suggest you people to read this awesome book as soon as possible!!!
